The inversion suggest a correction of 0.23, based on 9 crossovers with a mean
offset of 1.257, do not adjust. This is consistent with CARINA.

74JC19950320 - salinity
Average of all cross-overs is: 2.6 ppm
Inversion analysis suggests an insignificant adjustment.
Cross-overs with core cruises (06AQ19960317, SAVE, 316N19831007) do not warrant
an adjustment.

GLODAPv2_ATL_for_Carsten.xls / 2015-01-08): : make -777. Various problems with
SIL (as for the other parameters, see there) degrade these data. SIL calibration
drifts or jumps strongly over the length of the cruise. Southern data are
approximately 0%, but profiles are highly scattered (up to 5-10% of value),
while the northern data are precise, but there the surface SIL values do not go
down to zero (remain ~5 umol/kg), and the the data in the 'NADW' depth range are
(also) severely too high (>>15%) compared to other cruises there.

The evidence from core cruises is inconclusive. While cross-overs with
29HE20010305 and 323019940104 show relatively small offsets, those with
316N19831007, 49NZ20031106 and SAVE are higher.
I suggest an adjustment of silicate for cruise 74JC19950320 of 0.96

-
UPDATE
A new inversion analysis has been done (13 Oct. 2008), now with data to which
all suggested adjustments from the first round were applied. This new analysis
suggests a significant adjustment of 1.047.
This suggests that the correction that has been applied (0.96) caused the data
to be much too low.
As the average of all cross-overs is 1.005, which would suggest no offset from
other cruises, I suggest to modify the adjustment of silicate to 1.00 (i.e. NO
adjustment).

Autogenerated CTD salinity and CTD oxygen update
Automated update! This overwrites adjustment values (and flags) of CTDoxy and
CTDsal with the values from BOTsal and BOToxy for every cruise, unless CTDsal
(or CTDoxy) is not present or bad.
Salinity action ID:5; CTD salinity data good, setting CTD salinity offset and QC
flag to bottle values.
Oxygen action ID:3; no CTD oxygen data. Setting CTD oxygen offset to -999, QC
flag removed.

Auto-uploaded comment from GLODAPv2 assessment by Steven van Heuven (src:

Auto-uploaded comment from GLODAPv2 assessment by Steven van Heuven (src:
GLODAPv2_ATL_for_Carsten.xls / 2015-01-08): : make 1.03. Tough one. Data at far
southern end are quite clearly 3.5-4.5% low, while they improve going northward,
reaching about 1-2% low at the northern end. Opting for an average adjustment of
1.03, which is exactly what the inversion thinks, too. But this dataset really
asks for -777...

becoming approx accurate from 50S northwards. This range is too large to allow,
making -777.

74JC19950320 - tco2
Mean offset with 3 cruises: -19.0
Inversion suggests -22.4
The data do not look good. There problably is a difference between the more
northern and southern data.
I follow GLODAPv1 and CARINA are flag these data as poor.

74JC19950320 - oxygen
The inversion suggest a correction of 1.0233, based on 8 crossovers with a mean

1.025.

74JC19950320 - salinity
Average of all cross-overs is: 2.6 ppm
Inversion analysis suggests an insignificant adjustment.
Cross-overs with core cruises (06AQ19960317, SAVE, 316N19831007) do not warrant
an adjustment.

74JC19950320 - oxygen

Inversion analysis suggests an adjustment of 1.026
Cross-overs with core cruises (316N19831007, 49NZ20031106, SAVE) strongly agree
with the inversion results.
I therefore suggest an adjustment of oxygen for cruise 74JC19950320 of 1.025

74JC19950320 - silicate
Average of all cross-overs is: 1.005
Inversion analysis suggests an adjustment of 0.949
The evidence from core cruises is inconclusive. While cross-overs with
29HE20010305 and 323019940104 show relatively small offsets, those with
316N19831007, 49NZ20031106 and SAVE are higher.
I suggest an adjustment of silicate for cruise 74JC19950320 of 0.96

74JC19950320 - phosphate
Average of all cross-overs is: 0.970
Inversion analysis suggests an insignificant adjustment (1.012).
Cross-overs with core cruises (316N19831007, 49NZ20031106, SAVE) shows evidence
that phosphate of cruise 74JC19950320 may be somewhat low indeed.
Based on this I suggest a modest adjustment of phosphate for cruise 74JC19950320
amounting to 1.02

Cross-overs with core cruises (49NZ20031106, 323019940104, SAVE) do not support
an adjustment.
I suggest NO adjustment of nitrate for cruise 74JC19950320.
