GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is -1.9 ppm.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (-0.6 +/-6.5
ppm).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is -0.8 (+/-1.9)
ppm.
All cross overs show no significant differences (<5 ppm) and involve cruises
that are thought to have no significant offset in salinity. This suggests that
no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for salinity.

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is -1.0 umol/kg.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (0.0 +/-1.8
umol/kg).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
5 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is -0.9 (+/-3.0)
umol/kg.
4 cross overs show no significant differences (<4 umol/kg) and involve cruises
that are thought to have no offset in TCO2. Note that the other cross over,
which shows an offset of 5.6 (+/-1.3) umol/kg, involve the cruise INDIGO3 which
is known to have high TCO2 values (by about 6 umol/kg according to this study
and GLODAP).
This analysis suggests that no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for TCO2.

320619960503 - alkalinity
The inversion suggest a correction of 3.1 and the mean of the crossovers is
-2.7, suggesting that the alkalinity data for this cruise is slightly low,
although well within the threshold of 6 umol/kg. Both GLODAP and CARINA choose
not to apply any adjustment.
We suggest that no adjustment is applied.

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is -2.4 umol/kg.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests that a small adjustment could be required
(+4.8 +/-2.4 umol/kg).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
5 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is -2.1 (+/-2.4)
umol/kg.
4 cross overs show no significant differences (<5 umol/kg) and involve cruises
that are thought to have no offset in alkalinity. Note that the other cross
over, which shows an offset of 6.0 (+/-2.8) umol/kg, involves the cruise INDIGO3
which is thought to have no significant offset in alkalinity (according to this
study and GLODAP). However the cruise INDIGO3 was conducted 9 years before this
one and consequently the detected offset could reflect natural variability.
This analysis suggests that no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global inversion suggests a small offset in alkalinity, but the evidence is
insufficient to warrant an adjustment.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for alkalinity.

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is 0.995.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (1.014
+/-0.018).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed, but 2 are discarded due to large uncertainty (with
cruise 49ZS19921203 and 74DI19930206). The average of the 5 considered cross
overs is 0.981 (+/-0.027).
Only 2 cross overs show no significant differences (<2%) but they involve
cruises that are thought to have no offset in phosphate, whereas the other cross
overs involve cruises that are thought to have high phosphate values. This
suggests that no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for phosphate.

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is 1.001.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests that an adjustment of 1.02 could be
required (1.023 +/-0.021).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed but 1 is discarded due to large uncertainty (with
cruise 09AR19941213). The average of the 6 considered cross overs is 0.971
(+/-0.034).
3 cross overs show no significant differences (<2%) and involve cruises that are
thought to have no offset in silicate, while the other cross overs involve
cruises that are thought to have high silicate values. This suggests that no
adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses disagree. It should be noted, however, that the
uncertainty associated with the result of the global inversion is large (almost
as large as the suggested adjustment).
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for silicate.

320619960503 - cfc11
Low surface saturation (80%), but consistent for both CFC11 and CFC12. The
relationship between the two CFCs looks generally good. No adjustment
recommended.

320619960503 - oxygen
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.986 and the mean of the crossovers is
1.002. CARINA suggest no adjustment, and an adjustment of 0.001 is applied to
GLODAP.
We suggest that no adjustment is applied.

320619960503 - silicate
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.995 and the mean of the crossovers is
1.007 although with large scatter in both directions. GLODAP and CARINA both
suggest that no adjustment is applied.
We suggest that no adjustment is applied.

320619960503 - phosphate
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.996 and the mean of the crossovers is
0.998. Relative large offsets to the cruises on 35MF and 74DI biases the
inversion a little.
No adjustment in CARINA or GLODAP.
We suggest that no adjustment is applied.

320619960503 - oxygen
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is 1.002.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (0.995
+/-0.005).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is 0.994 (+/-0.020).
5 cross overs show no significant differences (<1%) and involve cruises that are
thought to have no offset in oxygen. This suggests that no adjustment would be
required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for oxygen.

320619960503 - silicate

320619960503 - phosphate

320619960503 - alkalinity

320619960503 - tco2
