Only few cross-overs, including one with cruise 74DI19921222 which is spurious.
Other cross-overs do not seem to warrant any adjustment.

The inversion suggested correction was 1.0123 and mean offset is 0.978. Huge
offset because very low compared to 74DI199_1, but these data are exceptional.
Initially the decision is do not adjust. This is not consistent with CARINA
which suggests 0.98. As usual I prefer CARINA recommendation as this is based on
more data.

Average of all cross-overs is: 0.977 (but strongly influenced by one spurious
cross-over with cruise 74DI19921222).
Inversion analysis suggests an adjustment of: 0.970
Cross-overs with core cruises (SAVE, GEOSECS_ATLANTIC, 323019940104) appear to
confirm that phosphate of cruise 31WT19841001 by somewhat too high.
I therefore suggest an adjustment of 0.98

The inversion suggest a correction of 0.9864, based on 4 xovers with a mean
offset of 1.009. This is very biased by (1500) 74DI19921222. Otherwise the data
appear slightly high and about 1.5% higher than (2400) 323019940104, and it is
reasonable to recommend that these data are adjusted by x0.99. This is
consistent with CARINA.

UPDATE
A new inversion analysis has been done (13 Oct. 2008), now with data to which
all suggested adjustments from the first round were applied. This new analysis
suggests a significant adjustment of oxygen by 0.982
Comparing with other cruises (including those with no statistically usable
cross-overs) a small adjustment seems justifiable.
I therefore suggest a small adjustment amounting to 0.99

31WT19841001 - phosphate
New inversion for phosphate in the Atlantic with 10 core cruises assigned does
not change the previously suggested adjustment.

31WT19841001 - oxygen
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.9864, based on 4 xovers with a mean
offset of 1.009. This is very biased by (1500) 74DI19921222. Otherwise the data
appear slightly high and about 1.5% higher than (2400) 323019940104, and it is
reasonable to recommend that these data are adjusted by x0.99. This is
consistent with CARINA.

31WT19841001 - silicate
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.9848 and mean offset is 0.911. Latter
value due to huge offset with (1500) 74DI19921222. Do not adjust. This is in
agreement with CARINA suggested adjustment.

31WT19841001 - phosphate
The inversion suggested correction was 1.0123 and mean offset is 0.978. Huge
offset because very low compared to 74DI199_1, but these data are exceptional.
Initially the decision is do not adjust. This is not consistent with CARINA
which suggests 0.98. As usual I prefer CARINA recommendation as this is based on
more data.

31WT19841001 - nitrate
Suggested correction is 1 and mean offset is 0.959. Huge offset only because the
data appears very low compared to 74DI199_1. Do not adjust. This is consistent
with CARINA

31WT19841001 - salinity
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.75. Based on 3 crossovers with mean
offset -0.868. Do not adjust.

31WT19841001 - oxygen
Only 3 cross-overs, with one spurious (with cruise 74DI19921222).
An adjustment does not seem to be warranted.

31WT19841001 - silicate
Only 3 cross-overs, with one spurious (with cruise 74DI19921222).
There is scattering in the cross-overs, but an adjustment is not warranted.

31WT19841001 - phosphate
Average of all cross-overs is: 0.977 (but strongly influenced by one spurious
cross-over with cruise 74DI19921222).
Inversion analysis suggests an adjustment of: 0.970
Cross-overs with core cruises (SAVE, GEOSECS_ATLANTIC, 323019940104) appear to
confirm that phosphate of cruise 31WT19841001 by somewhat too high.
I therefore suggest an adjustment of 0.98

31WT19841001 - nitrate
Average of all cross-overs is: 0.959 (but strongly influenced by one spurious
cross-over with cruise 74DI19921222).
Inversion analysis suggests an insignificant adjustment (0.989).
Cross-overs with core cruises do not warrant an adjustment.

31WT19841001 - salinity
Only few cross-overs, including one with cruise 74DI19921222 which is spurious.
Other cross-overs do not seem to warrant any adjustment.
